Expert Review

This kit is the HG Demi Barding from the Mobile Suit Gundam "The Witch from Mercury" series. It's Chuchu's (rental..) unit that appears in Season 2 — "Barding" refers to the armor worn by a warhorse. It's based on the HG Demi Trainer, but with two new runner sheets added, it comes out with a noticeably different silhouette.

Since the underlying frame is based on the Demi Trainer, the unique waist articulation gimmick along with its excellent articulation and joint strength carry over as well. With the armor and weapons being larger, it sports a much more hefty proportion. The Baori Pack on the back can be deployed in its ejected state using a lead wire, just like in episode 22. The two beam cannons on the Baori Pack can be freely positioned facing front or rear, and the Demi Trainer head on top can rotate.

For weapons, a Beam Rifle Plus and beam saber are included. When holding the Beam Rifle Plus, the fixing pin on the rear can lock it onto the forearm. On top of that, the Boosters on the sides of the legs can move up and down and rotate, and they also serve as storage for the beam sabers.

With such a dramatically refreshed look, it also boasts the same clean build quality as the HG Demi Trainer. If you're enjoying The Witch from Mercury or just dig the style, this seems like a great HG kit you can grab without hesitation. :-)
