Expert Review

--- SD Gundam World Heroes - General Notes ----------------- This is a TV anime series made as a follow-up to the 2021 Sangoku Soketsuden, and just like the title "World Heroes" suggests, it draws inspiration from heroes across different eras. The model kits follow the same concept as Soketsuden, and even the shared frame runners from Soketsuden are reused as-is. Everything else — the way the parts are structured, the material feel — is identical too, so honestly it's not much of a stretch to just call these the same Sangoku Soketsuden series kits rather than a proper sequel.

Also, just like the Sangoku Soketsuden kits, these are made at Bandai's Chinese factory rather than the Shizuoka plant, and the material still feels hard and stiff to assemble. On the flip side, the intricate molding and color separation give you a great-looking straight build, and the price feels pretty reasonable for what you get. ------------------------------------------------------

This kit is the SD Zhao Yun 00 Gundam Command Package, released as #27 in the SD Gundam World Heroes lineup. It takes the SD Zhao Yun 00 Gundam that was previously released in the Sangoku Soketsuden series, changes the molded colors, and adds the Command Package. The Command Package comes loaded with a variety of weapons including large wings, a gatling gun, and missile pods.

The base body itself is completely identical to the original SD Zhao Yun 00 Gundam, so the build quality is on par with your standard SD Sangoku Soketsuden / Gundam World Heroes kits. For the base body, just checking the color differences from the original kit should be enough. To attach the Command Package, you need to detach the shoulder binders and cape and mount them onto the Command Package wings. There's also an opening gimmick for the missile hatches on the underside of the wings, and you can combine just the Command Package into a flying support mecha as well.

If you detach the Command Package's weapons individually, they can be mounted onto the Bilongou that came with the SD Sangoku Soketsuden Zhao Yun 00 Gundam & Bilongoufrom the SD Sangoku Soketsuden series. Or you can SD Sangoku Soketsuden Trinity Bikecollab with that as well in the same way. Just keep in mind that you'll need the joint parts from either of those two kits to attach the backpack. (Better make sure you don't lose them!)

So yes, it's essentially a color variant base body with new weapons added — but the sheer volume of the armaments gives it a pretty unique feel. If you're into SD Gundams and especially love kits loaded up with all kinds of weapons, this one's right up your alley. :-)
